Southborough By-Election - Soccer Initiative9.55.40am GMT Mon 1st Mar 2004 Football in Southborough had its origins in the West Ward and a love of the game still exists here. The focus is now on the Ridgewaye field and three of our local clubs have joined to form the Southborough Football Association. Last year, they received a special community award for improvements in coaching and working within the local community. The Liberal Democrats fully support this initiative and wish to develop the facilities currently available. At present, the Town Council is frustrated at the lack of progress, but the project is still alive and will be pursued as soon as finance becomes available. Liberal Democrats want to promote a fit and healthy community and we see sport as a major contributor to this.
