Councillor Simon Bannister's Pledge to Residents in St John's12.04.54am BST (GMT +0100) Sat 5th Jun 2004
Cllr Simon Bannister reports:- "An area of concern is the dangerous state of the roads and pavements in St Johns. Well maintained roads and level footpaths with no tripping hazards greatly aid a safe environment. Kent County Council with the Borough Council are responsible for roads and I will lobby them on behalf of St John's residents to obtain a faster response to comments about road conditions and a better service all round. In supporting recycling in the Borough, I will continue to press for a much improved service, with better value for money. Again the issue of fortnightly bin collections has been raised by the electorate. TWBC has ridden roughshod over peoples concerns. I will continue to raise this matter in Council and fight for the rights of the voters. I will continue to put pressure on the Council to ensure that funds raised by the Council Tax and Government contributions are distributed in a fairer way. A resident commented during a recent residents survey 'Encourage KCC and TWBC to stop spending Council Tax on glossy booklets telling us how wonderful they are' ".
