Lib Dem speaks out against Ticket Office closure plans5.54.46pm GMT Fri 25th Nov 2005
Chairman of Tunbridge Wells Liberal Democrat Party, Alan Bullion, has written to the Courier expressing his disgust at plans put forward by South Eastern Trains to close the ticket office at High Brooms Station at 12.45pm on weekdays. "High Brooms station has long suffered from neglect - no waiting rooms, no toilets, no ticket office on Sundays, no facilities for the disabled and no security late at night on the long platforms" wrote Dr Bullion in The Courier, 25th November. "The one ticket machine outside the up platform frequently swallows coins and credit cards but refuses to spit out tickets. The closure of the ticket office for most of the day will not help in cold winter weather either - it is the only place where one at least can try and keep warm! It is no wonder people opt out of using public transport, but then some of us have no choice." Tunbridge Wells Liberal Democrats oppose any move to make using public transport more difficult or less attractive. If you want to offer your support, email us at info@twlibdems.org.uk
