Jackie Wants to Achieve the Best for Pembury9.22.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 24th Apr 2008
Tunbridge Wells Liberal Democrats are backing Jackie Prance in the Borough Council election on Thursday May 1st. "The Liberal Democrats in Pembury have a long history of working for local people" said Jackie. "I lived in the village for over 15 years and want to put something back". If elected, Jackie's top priorities are: - 1. Doorstep recycling of plastics and cans. 2. More investment in repairing local roads, and major projects such as the long overdue dualling of the A21. 3.More activities for young people in the village. 4. Pushing the Government to make sure that the Pembury Hospital project is delivered as soon as possible, and that local roads and public transport are ready for the additional strain. "Jackie will be a great local councillor", said local resident and activist Lorraine Braam. "People in Pembury deserve better than they get from their Tory representatives - I for one was dismayed to find out that Pembury Tory Cllr Barrington-King, who is up for election on May 1st, is responsible for the totally unjustified move to charge full weekday rates for parking in the borough's car parks on Sundays. "He is also in charge of waste collection and recycling, yet his own village still doesn't have a plastic recycling facility meaning local people have to drive all the way to the town! I'm sure people will be glad for a positive alternative come polling day."
