Choose A Better Future

Labour's recession is hurting people badly

· Unemployment is rising every day

· People are worried their businesses could go under

· Every week people are losing their homes

· Ministers too busy fighting amongst themselves to govern properly

The Liberal Democrats will give people the help they need

· We will cut income tax bills by £700 for the vast majority of people and close loopholes exploited by the rich

· No one earning less than £10,000 will pay income tax at all

· 20 hours of free, quality childcare a week from 18 months to five years old

For 30 years, Labour and before them the Conservatives were careless with Britain's economy

· Billions are being wasted on a VAT cut that is having no effect

· Labour has bailed out the banks but still can't get them lending

· Liberal Democrats will build a different kind of economy for the future - strong, stable and green.

This election is a big choice for Britain.

· Labour's incompetence has messed up Britain's relationship with other European countries

· The Conservatives and UKIP would rather make life harder for people in Britain than work with our European neighbours - even if that means criminals escaping justice and pollution spreading across Europe

· Conservatives and UKIP refuse to work with our European neighbours to tackle the economic storm, climate change, international crime, people-trafficking and terrorism

· The other parties are offering a choice between a Labour government with no hope and a Tory party with no ideas

This election is a chance to choose a different, better future

The European Union is our best option: Community in an unsafe world.

· More than 3 million jobs in the UK are dependent on trade with other EU countries. Liberal Democrats know that effective cooperation creates prosperity.

· Liberal Democrats will work with our European neighbours to protect Britain and catch terrorists and criminals who operate across national borders.

· Pollution and climate change don't recognise national borders. Countries have to work together to tackle climate change.

And Liberal Democrats have helped achieve a wide range of benefits for ordinary people, including:

· Catching criminals and bringing them to justice - other countries now have to extradite swiftly suspects so that they can be put on trial here,

· Making people safer - banning toxic chemicals in everyday products that could have harmed people

· Saving you money - helping to cut the cost of phone calls both at home and on mobiles when we travel to different countries

Of course the EU needs to change.

· Of course there are things they should do less of - money is still wasted

. The EU should concentrate on big issues and interfere less with other things

. The EU should get off the backs of small businesses.

. We need less interference with our farmers

· The Liberal Democrats have argued for a referendum on whether Britain stays in or leaves the EU
